Dear Dancer,
Happy Birthday to Our Global Community!
What a joy it was to celebrate The Centrepiece with all of you last night. The connection we shared radiated the angel of resilience, filling the evening with warmth and unity.
We began the celebration with the soothing sounds of Barbara Swetina, whose presence always brings grace to our gatherings, thank you, Barbara. It was heartwarming to see so many friendly faces and feel the love you all bring to the dance.
A special thank you to Friedel for her kind and truthful reflections on unity. Her words, shared, were a gift that reminded us of the strength in our shared purpose. I have included the small video below for you to be reminded of her music “One World”, a personal favourite of mine, to Bernhard’s Sun Dance. Similarly, Laura Shannon’s big circle was a highlight, and the sight of so many familiar faces, dressed in beautiful attire, made the moment even more special.
Laura’s dance “Syrtós Melí ” brought memories of my beloved Bad Herrenalb, and it was wonderful to see Beate Frey and the talented musicians bringing this connection to life. Barbel and her musician friends also offered a gentle, heartfelt dance from the other side of Germany, thank you for your dedication and hard work.
Amanda Huttl’s carefully chosen poem about unity was deeply moving, setting the tone for Lucia Cordeiro’s inspiring energy. Lucia is new to The Centrepiece but very familiar to the global circle, but her spirit touched me. It’s always a joy to meet someone who shares our love for sacred dance. Renata Ramos also brought her music with such familiarity and charm, evoking personal memories from Edinburgh that I hadn’t recalled in years. Hazel Young’s vibrant 90s inspired dance added another layer of creativity, reminding us how expressive and inclusive dance can be.
Every teacher, presenter, and supporter played an essential role in weaving this beautiful tapestry of connection. Let’s carry this unity forward by communicating with compassion and love. Real unity brings real peace.
A Personal Reflection
I find it difficult to express how much The Centrepiece means to me and how it came to be. It was born out of an unexpected journey, one that wasn’t always easy to navigate. Yet, from the start, I felt the global dance community’s deep connection to its purpose. While my love and passion for dance drive these sessions, it’s the presenters who bring their culture, creativity, and heart that truly make it special.
My vision for The Centrepiece has always been to create a space where everyone regardless of background or alliances can share their light and ideas. To build unity, we must work together with honesty and care for our community. This space, in its humble way, celebrates the mastery of dance and gives each presenter a chance to shine. Together, we let the light of sacred dance illuminate the world.
Upcoming Events
