Dear Dancers,
It has turned very cold here in Scotland. On my early morning walks, I can feel the first tingle of frost settling into the air. The trees have mostly surrendered their leaves now, letting them go in their own beautiful way. It’s a gentle reminder for us too, to surrender what no longer needs holding, and to make space for what is truly ours.
Surrender has always been one of my favourite ways of living. When we let go of what isn’t meant for us, we become clearer about what is, for me, that is dance, music, and above all, the beauty that comes from within.
I find myself listening more deeply to the Beloved, trusting what is being given. And with this… the dance goes on.
Returning to the Cluny Ballroom
Recently, I was back in the Cluny ballroom, a place rich with the history of Sacred Dance. With its newly restored windows and a warm, welcoming energy, it felt alive again. We enjoyed two beautiful days celebrating the birthdays of two community members. The dining room was full, and the ballroom held both a sharing circle and a Ceilidh, which I had the joy of calling. With live music and wonderful dancers joining in, it was such a surprise and delight and one of those unexpected gatherings that leave you glowing.
Dancing Across Moray
I’ve also been working with a Moray wide group bringing dance and music to local people across the region. I’ve led three sessions with different groups in Elgin and have already been invited back for more sessions in January and February.
We’ve tried a number of the seated dances from The Centrepiece, and “Serenissima” by Julia Lynam has become a favourite so far. Seated Serenade is thriving, and our official resident teacher Anne Crowe will soon be welcoming new teachers into the space and a few are already lined up.
Combining seated and circle dances in one session brings such joy, especially with scarves, gentle communication, and the shared flow of movement. I hope next time I can capture a video or photo, it’s always hard when you’re enjoying yourself, too much to remember!
New for 2026 “Dancing Through Trauma with Babajaga”
I have also begun organising my workshop for 2026: “Dancing Through Trauma with Babajaga.”
This theme has been calling strongly, and I’ve already explored some of the dances that will become part of the workshop.
I brought a few of these dances to the Findhorn Sacred Dance group on Tuesday, and it was a truly meaningful experience to share them in the community for the first time. I’m excited to see how this work deepens as we move toward 2026.
Upcoming
The Centrepiece: “Quiet Winter & Meditation Dances”
Next week brings our final Centrepiece session of 2025, themed around quiet winter and meditation dances. Many people have already shown their interest, and I hope you’ll join us for this peaceful closing to the year. You’ll find the list of presenters and your Zoom invitation will be sent out with the newsletter (see your inbox) or pm me if you d like to receieve it, along with the new dates for both The Centrepiece and Seated Serenade on the events page.
May this winter bring you gentle quiet, deep rest, and a sense of shared warmth in movement.

App Update (Important)
A few dancers have asked about the App videos not playing. Unfortunately, Google and other large companies had been making changes that have caused issues for many small apps, ours included.
We have resolved the problem now, so all videos are working. If your App is not working, we suggest looking at your updates or reinstalling the app. With massive thanks to Emma Logan for the fix, she is amazing!
I hope you are all enjoying the run up to the winter holiday. Here we are currently rehearsing for the winter gathering in the Universal hall and keeping warm in the process.
Sending warm hugs from a frosty Scotland,
Brant
PS: As we continue building and improving our app experience, we’d love your support with a practical needs helping cover our app development costs. Your contributions will keep new videos coming, editing, updates running smoothly, and the whole platform growing stronger. If you’d like to support the work, you can donate here.

Beneath the chandelier, an image that brought back years of memories. I learned so much in this space, and returning to it was truly special.
