Welcome to

Dear Dancers,

As we enter this season of holly and mistletoe, may it be a time filled with dancing, togetherness, and the warmth of family, friends, and community.

I’ve recently been travelling to Edinburgh and had the joy of dancing with Katie Jack (who runs a group in Edinburgh, with Kate Daly) , which was absolutely wonderful. I also spent some precious time with family, we wandered through the famous Edinburgh Christmas markets and amusements together, and it truly felt as though Christmas has arrived here in Scotland.

This weekend (Sunday) was also St. Andrew’s Day, which has such an interesting story, especially given that he never actually set foot in Scotland, yet his story remains a powerful tale of faith. People throughout Scotland celebrate this day as a a reminder of Scotland’s culture which is very rich in dtories and music, it makes me appreciated my Scottish/Irish heritage.

The Centrepiece – News

It was truly lovely to be with you all on Saturday night around the Centrepiece…

Our presenters shared beautiful dances that invited us into silence, reflection, and meditation for the final Centrepiece of the year.

Below is the link to Friedel’s talk, alongside contributions from all our wonderful presenters. I was especially grateful for the quiet moments this time, and I’ve included the poems we shared, along with a few images.

Hosting the Centrepiece has been a great blessing for me. Teaching dance feels like such a sacred art, one that carries a deep responsibility to ourselves and to one another. I love to sit, watch, and support each of you as you express your love of dance. Having so many remarkable presenters over these last five years has been a joy and an honour.

Looking ahead, the Centrepiece will continue into 2026 with a new focus on the seasons, New Year, Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. I’d also love to weave in more opportunities for connection, so if you have personal news or updates you’d like to share with our community, please send them to me via my website connect page.

Together, we will continue strengthening our network around the Centrepiece.

In the stillness of Saturday’s silence, I felt strongly that there is even more to come in the year ahead so watch this space.

My heartfelt thanks to all of our presenters across the globe who have supported the Centrepiece this year.

I’m excited to see those joining us in community for “Crossing the Threshold” with Barbara Swetina this month, it’s sure to be a beautiful gathering. And soon we will meet again for the Winter Gathering, live from the Universal Hall. The poster is below, and I’ll once again be hosting alongside Barbara.

A little extra note…

As we close the year, may your steps be light, your hearts open, and your dances guided by joy. Thank you for being part of this living, breathing circle of movement. Here’s to the dances still waiting for us in the turning of the seasons.

I look forward to dancing with you again very soon.

Hugs from Scotland
