Hello dancers
The sun is out this morning, and it’s looking like a lovely day for a walk. There’s just the first little hint of an autumn chill in the air, and even the birds seem to be sounding different at this time of year. It’s funny how these small changes can suddenly make you notice the season turning.
I think I’ve come to appreciate these little things more and more, the changing light, the sound of the birds, the feel of the air and those quiet moments when you can simply stop and notice where you are. Soon it will be time for me to head down to the beach, find a good spot to sit, and enjoy a little bit of that peaceful seaside time before the autumn really arrives.
And talking of how quickly the seasons change, what a quick and wild summer it has been here in Scotland!
It’s been a wonderful summer of dance, with lots of travelling, meeting people and sharing dances. We’ve danced over in Ireland with Friedel and the irish group (I hope to be with them again in the future) also in Cloughjordon (With training people basics) where I hear the local group has now started, which is fantastic to hear!
Here in Moray, we’ve been dancing in lots of villages and communities, including Elgin, where we are invited by three groups, as well as Spey Bay, Burghead, Duffus and Dallas, and Forres plus many other places along the way.
We’ve just finished the Findhorn Sacred Dance Festival, and what a lovely week of dance it was! It was so nice to see lots of familiar faces, meet new people and spend time with other presenters. It was especially lovely to meet people in person for the first time, including Judy King, whom I had never met in person which was nice 🙂
There were lots of fantastic dances throughout the festival, and I was very happy to be teaching on behalf of Friedel Kloke Eibl. I had the special opportunity to have a session with Friedel joining us live online in the Universal Hall. She spoke about Bernhard Wosien, and it was a very special experience to share her work in this way. It was a real honour to teach for Friedel, and I’m very grateful to everyone who helped make it happen.
During the festival we taught Stufen and Liberation, two beautiful dances which I’ll tell you a little more about Stufen below.
A big thank you to everyone who came along, danced, taught, helped organise and made the festival such a lovely gathering. It was wonderful to see the circle come together.

From Friedel Kloke Eibl….
STUFEN (stages). During my last telephone conversation with Bernhard Wosien he quoted at the end the poem by Rainer Maria Rilke – The most famous German poet of the 20th century –
I live my life in widening circles
which spread over earth and sky.
I may not ever complete the last one,
but that is what I will try
after that, he fell into a coma from which he never awoke.
Joseph Röösli, a very wellknown Swiss musician, composed this poem for me so that I could choreograph this dance in memory of B. Wosien.
About the gestures: I want to mention and express symbolically the quotes by Johann Kaspar Lavater:
If you want to walk through life with confidence, look beyond yourself!
If you don’t want to feel lost in life, look around you!
If you want to see your own worth, look within yourself! (Look at your own soul.)
